06

When to go, and where?

Tenerife is mild all year – but regions differ clearly.

North

Greener, damper, rich in culture. Good for hiking, old towns and nature even on changeable days.

South

Sunnier and drier. Good for beaches, swimming and relaxing.

High mountains

Teide: much cooler and windier than the coast – bring a jacket even in summer.

West & East

West: cliffs and sea. East: wind, waves and surfers.

08

Practical in brief

How do I get to Tenerife?

There are two airports: Tenerife South (TFS) and Tenerife North (TFN). Holidaymakers most often use the south airport.

Do I need a rental car?

For Teide, Anaga and Masca a car or guided tour is the most convenient. For coastal towns, bus or taxi is often enough.

Do I need a permit for Teide?

For the final climb to the summit, yes. Rules and procedures change – please check with the national park before travelling.

Currency and language?

Euro. Spanish is spoken; in tourist areas English and German often work too.

Are prices and times on this site binding?

No. We deliberately list no unverified prices or opening hours. Current details are available on request.
